Preparing for a Tour
Choosing the right childcare center and preschool is a very important decision. Early childhood education lays the groundwork for high school, college, and life. We believe and we hope that our program, curriculum, and teachers will help shape your child into the person they will one day become. We are so fortunate and grateful to play this part in so many young lives and hope we have the opportunity to do the same in yours.
We know that we might be only one stop on your journey to find the perfect fit for you and your family, so we’ve created this list to help you today and in the future while you tour Generation Next and other facilities.
Visit facilities unannounced
Research centers using the Iowa Department of Human Services Child Care Reports
Observe all parts of the facility, including play, sleep, outdoor, and feeding areas
Read the center’s policies before registering
During your tour, ask questions including:
Is this facility licensed by the State of Iowa?
What security measures are in place?
What are your child to teacher ratios?
What do we, the parents, provide and what does the center provide?
What safe sleep practices do you implement?
What is your curriculum?
What are your guidance techniques?
What are your cleaning procedures?
What is your illness policy?
What tools do you use to communicate with parents?
What qualifications do the staff hold and what background checks are conducted?
How do you accommodate children with allergies or dietiary restrictions?
What paperwork is required?
How are holidays celebrated?
How do you communicate closings and how do closings affect normal tuition?
What is the weekly tuition? And are there additional fees?
We hope this list will help you make an informed decision on one of the most important choices of your child’s young life. Please let us know what we can do to make this process and decision easier. We thank you for considering Generation Next for your child’s learning environment.
